In this article, we’ve written ideas for starting a business from home. You can choose from a side hustle, something that pays well, or something more fulfilling and career-oriented.
Regardless of what you decide to pursue, it’s important that your side hustle stays within your means and doesn’t compete with your main source of income. So if you’re just getting started in the world of entrepreneurship for fun or cash flow purposes, here are the ways to start from day one:
1) Use social media advertising
There are two main types of social media advertising: ads on social media platforms themselves, and paid search. Both can be extremely effective.
-Automate your social media advertising.
Once your initial setup is complete, you need to automate your social media advertising. You can do this with a number of tools, but we recommend Hootsuite due to its ability to schedule and track all of your posts in one place. (This will also make it easy for you to update all of your profiles when you travel or take time off during the day. Simply update your social media profiles when you get back to work, and when you get home at night, you’ll be ready to post.)
-Get creative with social media advertising.
We use a combination of automation and creativity when we post on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. (I know we’re not the only ones that do this — I talked with a lot of my fellow bloggers about this in an article recently.)
2) Create a YouTube channel
YouTube is another incredibly effective tool for business. It allows you to grow your own channel as well as dive into live streaming, and you can even livestream conferences for money. Though, you need a ton of patience to start making healthy income from youtube
3) Create a podcast
Podcasting is another great way to spread awareness about your brand, grow your audience, make friends in the industry, and make money. Just download one of the free audio editing programs available online (Audacity is my favorite), record an episode, upload it to iTunes or Stitcher, and earn some passive income.
4) Create an ebook
An ebook is a digital booklet that you create to explain your product or service. While it doesn’t generate any revenue on its own, you can use it to explain your product, generate leads, and get reviews.
- Sell ebooks through Amazon
The biggest channel for selling ebooks is Amazon, followed by iTunes and others like Kobo. Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) offers the greatest earning potential for selling ebooks. With KDP you decide how much of each sale will go to you rather than Amazon’s sale price.
5) Become an affiliate
Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular ways to promote your favorite products, brands, and businesses online. As an affiliate, you receive a commission for each sale that you generate or lead that results in a conversion.
6)Use E-junkie to sell courses
If you are selling an online course for your audience, E-junkie is the best way to sell it online. It lets users purchase products with their credit card or PayPal account in a few easy steps, all from one page. It also gives users access to 10GB of storage space for digital downloads, such as PDFs and videos!
–Create a course with Skillshare
Skillshare is an online learning platform where you can market your skills by creating a classroom or workshop around it. What’s awesome about Skillshare is that it also offers one-on-one learning and consulting gigs. These types of one-on-one classes will give you the ability to share your knowledge with students in need of help, and they’ll pay you for it.
7)Offer print on demand services
In addition to print on demand services, Zazzle is our favorite service. Zazzle allows you to create custom t-shirts, greeting cards, photo books, mugs, pillows, and more. You have the ability to upload your art or choose from thousands of images that are already available for use on t-shirts or greeting cards. You can sell your items yourself or set them up as gifts for someone else!
8) Offer virtual assistants
Virtual assistants can be a great way to bring in some extra cash while you’re working from home…and if you have the right skills, they can also open the door to other opportunities down the road. Additionally, it allows you to charge clients for their time which will help you earn some passive income.
–Find virtual assistants on Upwork
Upwork is one of the leading online websites for finding virtual assistants. It’s a big center of the business services niche, with thousands of businesses seeking out talent that they can’t find in-house.It won’t matter what task you take on; you can choose the one that interests you the most and complete it as fast as possible, or you can set aside some time for more complex and involved projects like creating website content or writing reports.
9) Sell home-made products online
You can sell your own products online easily by running a simple online store. It’s one of the easiest ways to start selling products without buying inventory or having to create packaging. You can even sell items that you’ve created yourself to be an extra cash generator.
-Sell handmade crafts on Etsy
Etsy is another comprehensive marketplace for selling art, jewelry, clothing, accessories, and more. It’s deeply rooted in the handmade niche, allowing artists to showcase their work with buyers searching for unique items that stand out from the crowd.
10) Sell your photos
Did you know that you can sell your photos online? While your opportunities are still limited, there are a few key players in the stock photo world that allow you to sign up to sell images for a monthly fee. When done properly, this can become another source of passive income.
11) Make money from ads
The first thing to do is develop your website’s traffic by creating valuable content for your readers. Once you have established yourself as an expert in your industry, there are several ways to incorporate ads into your website without annoying or disrupting the user experience.
12) Create an instructional video
Making instructional videos (as long as you’re not a professional) is another way to generate revenue and build your brand. The more people see your product or service, the more they’ll know and trust it.
13) Sell digital downloads of your work
This process is very similar to selling ebooks above, but instead of creating a booklet about your product, you create a downloadable file. You can sell whatever you want, including digital artwork, videos, and audio recordings.
These were some ways to start a profitable business from home. Hope this article helped.
